Glossary
A reference guide to the terminology used in GeoTravel.ai.
AI Overview
Google’s AI-generated answer displayed at the top of search results. When you search for something like “best hotels in Paris,” the AI Overview is the large, synthesized response that appears above traditional search results. It often includes citations linking to source websites.
AI Mode
Google’s dedicated AI search interface that provides a fully conversational experience. Unlike AI Overviews (which appear within regular search results), AI Mode is a separate interface where users have back-and-forth conversations with Google’s AI. Responses in AI Mode frequently include map results for travel queries.
Share of Voice (SOV)
The percentage of your tracked AI responses that mention your brand. If you track 100 keywords and your brand appears in 35 of the AI responses, your SOV is 35%. This is the primary metric for measuring your overall AI visibility relative to the market.
AI Visibility Index (AIV)
A composite score from 0 to 100 that combines three factors:
- Mention frequency — how often AI responses include your brand
- Position — where in the response your brand appears (earlier is better)
- Content quality — how detailed and accurate the mention is
The AIV provides a single number that captures the overall strength of your presence in AI-generated answers, going beyond simple mention counting.
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)
The practice of optimizing your content and online presence so that AI platforms are more likely to recommend you. GEO is to AI search what SEO is to traditional search — a set of strategies for improving your visibility in a specific channel.
Citation
When an AI-generated response includes a link to a source website. Citations are valuable because they drive direct traffic and signal that the AI considers your content authoritative. Not all mentions include citations — sometimes AI references a brand without linking to it.
Inclusion Rate
The percentage of your tracked queries where your brand appears in the AI response, regardless of position or detail. Inclusion rate answers the question: “For how many of the things travelers ask about, does AI even mention us?”
Position-Adjusted Word Count
A metric that measures how many words an AI response devotes to your brand, weighted by where those words appear. A 50-word mention near the beginning of a response scores higher than the same mention buried at the end, reflecting the fact that users pay more attention to content that appears first.
Local Pack / Map Results
The map with business listings that appears in Google search results for location-based queries. In the context of AI responses, map results can appear within AI Overviews and AI Mode answers, showing your property on an interactive map alongside competitors.
Tracking Run
One complete execution of sending all your tracked keywords to AI platforms and capturing their responses. Each tracking run produces a snapshot of how AI is answering questions about your market at that point in time. Runs typically happen on a scheduled basis (daily or weekly).
Evidence
The captured AI response from a tracking run. Evidence includes the full text of the AI answer, any citations or map results, and a screenshot. This is your proof of what AI said about your brand (or did not say) for a given query on a given date.
Gap Analysis
A per-prompt breakdown of why AI does or does not mention your brand. For each tracked keyword, gap analysis identifies what your competitors are doing differently, what content or signals the AI appears to rely on, and what specific actions could improve your chances of being included.
Semantic Opportunity
A topic cluster where you have room to grow your AI visibility. Semantic opportunities are identified by analyzing groups of related queries where your competitors appear but you do not. They represent areas where creating or improving content could expand your presence across multiple related searches at once.
