Keywords are the search queries that GeoTravel.ai sends to AI platforms on your behalf. They represent the questions and phrases that real travelers type into ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, and other AI search engines. For each keyword, the system checks whether the AI’s response mentions your property, links to your website, or shows your business on a map.

Choosing Good Keywords

Think about what a potential guest would actually ask an AI assistant. For example:
  • “Best luxury hotels in Barcelona”
  • “Where to stay near Central Park New York”
  • “Family-friendly resorts in the Maldives”
  • “Hotels with rooftop pools in London”
The more relevant your keywords are to real traveler queries, the more useful your tracking data will be.

Intent Types

Every keyword has an intent type that categorizes what the searcher is looking for. This helps you analyze your visibility across different stages of the traveler’s journey.
  • Branded — queries that include your brand name (e.g., “Grand Hotel Paris reviews”). These show how AI handles direct searches for your property.
  • Non-branded — generic queries where your brand is not mentioned (e.g., “best hotels in Paris”). These reveal whether AI recommends you organically.
  • Informational — queries seeking general knowledge (e.g., “things to do in Rome”). These show whether your destination or property appears in broader travel content.
  • Transactional — queries with booking intent (e.g., “book a hotel near the Louvre”). These indicate whether AI directs ready-to-book travelers toward you.
Track a mix of branded and non-branded keywords for a complete picture. Branded keywords tell you how AI handles your reputation; non-branded keywords reveal whether AI discovers and recommends you to new guests.

Locale and Location

Each keyword can be associated with a locale and location. These settings affect which version of AI results the system retrieves. For example, a query tracked in the “en-US” locale from a US location will return different AI responses than the same query tracked in “fr-FR” from France. This is important if your guests come from specific markets — you want to see what AI tells them in their language and region.

Importing Keywords via CSV

If you have a large list of keywords, you do not need to add them one by one. GeoTravel.ai supports CSV import so you can upload an entire keyword list at once. This is especially useful during initial setup or when expanding into new markets.
Your CSV file should include a column for the keyword query and the intent type. The system will guide you through mapping your columns during the import process.

How Tracking Works

Once your keywords are saved, GeoTravel.ai runs them against AI platforms on a daily schedule. Each day, the system:
  1. Sends your keywords to the configured AI platforms
  2. Captures the full AI-generated response
  3. Analyzes whether your properties are mentioned, cited, or shown on a map
  4. Updates your Share of Voice score based on the results
You can view the results for each keyword individually or look at aggregate metrics across your entire keyword set.
